WordPress 2.7 Is Ready For Download
The latest version of WordPress, WordPress 2.7 – codenamed “Coltrane” – is now ready for download. I prepared a short guide on upgrading to WordPress 2.7. Plus I compiled the latest posts on WordPress 2.7 by some remarkable bloggers.
Should You Upgrade Immediately?
Unlike the previous upgrades, WordPress.org suggests you to upgrade to the 2.7 release immediately. Because it has already been tested on 5 million blogs over the past week. So you don’t need to worry whether it is stable or not. It is the most stable WordPress release ever, and it includes the latest security updates.
Currently I use WordPress 2.6.5, and I am planning to finish the upgrade process by the end of this weekend. It is vital that you upgrade WordPress immediately because:
- Your future upgrades will be a lot easier.
- Your blog will be more secure.
- It has easy WordPress Theme and Plugin upgrades features, additions, and news, etc.
- Note that major search engine Google is considering penalizing Google Page Rank due to using an old version of WordPress which causes security vulnerabilities.
If you are using an older version of WordPress, you need to follow the instructions in the WordPress Codex, which is the online manual for WordPress Users, in Upgrading WordPress. You may upgrade to WordPress 2.7 now.
