EasyTube: Add Videos Into Your Blog Posts

You can make your blog look much more interesting with video. You may use your own videos or choose the ones shooted by other people. It is also possible to host your videos on your own hosting account and use an embedded media player in your blog posts to display them. However, this could be quite expensive in terms of bandwidth usage because video files are usually quite large. It is better to upload your videos to video service like YouTube and then use a WordPress plugin to display them in your blog posts. EasyTube is a WordPress plugin which allows you to display YouTube content by using one simple tag in your blog posts.

What Are The Benefits of Using EasyTube?

  • EasyTube  saves your bandwidth.
  • It makes your videos available to a wider audience. EasyTube shows the videos to both your blog readers and YouTube users.
  • This feature of EasyTube will become a useful promotional tool for your blog which will even bring traffic from YouTube.

How To Use EasyTube

  • Go to http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easytube/
  • Download the plugin, unzip it, and then upload the entire folder in your plugins directory
  • Login to the WordPress and go to the admin area.
  • Select Plugins, and then activate EasyTube.
  • Create a new post.
  • Go to YouTube and find a video you want to show.
  • Use these simple tags to insert video. You need to replace ‘URL’ with the actual URL of the video:
    [youtube:URL] > for YouTube
    [googlevideo:URL] >for Google Video
  • If you want to adjust the dimensions of the video player, you can also add the desired height and width like this:
    [youtube:URL 300 300]
  • You are done!

  1. It sounds a lot like Smart Youtube. With Smart Youtube plugin I just insert a ‘v’ into the YouTube video URL like httpv:// and it shows up in the post using the setting I have set up. Very convenient.

I might switch to EasyTube so I can use Google videos too.
