Widgadget - Create and Publish Your Own Widget

Viral marketing is one of the most effective ways to spread the word about your blog and services. Now Widgadget makes your content viral by letting you create your own widget in three easy steps.

How To Create Your Own Widget?

  • Sign up Widgadget. Note that there are three options: bloggers, business, and advertisers. By default you should select bloggers. However, you may also want to advertise your services by creating your own widget. In that case you better sign up as advertisers.
  • After completing sign up process, you will notice create your widget button on the right up corner.
  • Click on it, and follow the necessary steps.
  • Widgadget lets you create your own widgets with your desired text color/background, and links them back to your blog.
  • After finishing the design process, you are also given an option to share it with others via networks like Netvibes, Facebook, MySpace, Blogger, iGoogle, WordPress. You may also embed the widget code, and publish it on your own blog.
  • I must also warn you that Widgadget is still at BETA stage. I faced with some problems while trying to share my widget on some networks. However, it is still a great viral marketing tool for bloggers. All we need is to be patient for a while.

Benefits of Having Your Own Widget

  • Bloggers desperately seek for link exchange. The easiest way to have links to your blog is to persuade other bloggers on publishing your widget. The more bloggers do it, the more links you will have.
  • Arrange an award or charity organization for bloggers, and create a widget. You will be amazed to see how many bloggers will be linking to your site in a very short period of time.
  • Your widget is listed according to its category at Widgadget, where other members can easily find it. This can increase the viral effect.
  • All in all, you can create a web or desktop widget in a few minutes, distribute it, publish it in the main social networks, and promote it in their gallery.

After you sign up, pay a visit to my widget SearchForBlogging. Maybe I can get a few backlinks too, who knows…

Bloghology

Since 2007 edition, Bloghology hosted more than 50 unique and remarkable bloggers including probloggers like Caroline Middlebrook and Gobala Krishnan. Total number of downloads reached approximately to 10,000 since Jan 2008. It has been a great viral marketing tool for me and for the participants.

Now, it is time to announce May 2008 Bloghology participants. Frankly, it is getting more difficult for me to pick Bloghology participants, because the number of registered bloggers are increasing 5-8 per day. I check each and every blog to select the most interesting and promising ones for my community as well as the participating bloggers.

Recently I realized that if properly used Bloghology can act like a market research tool. Thus, I limited the number of participants to 10 in order to increase the interview quality.

Finally, here are the 10 remarkable bloggers selected for May 2008 edition:

  1. Mike & Michelle http://bloggin-ads.com/
  2. Marcus Hochstadt http://www.hochstadt.com/
  3. Blaine Moore http://news.runtowin.com/

Over the Top

Search For Blogging is a young yet dynamic blog which was launched in September 2007. Within 6 months, the number of unique visitors exceeded 21,000 by the closing of February. There are currently 116 posts and 766 comments, contained within 13 categories and 52 tags.

I target much higher statistics for 2008. I work non-stop to double, or maybe triple above statistics in 2008. Therefore above results are not satisfactory, yet they are still an important milestone for me and my blogging career. That’s why i wanted to share them with my fellow readers.

Looking back i have identified top 10 posts which pulled the highest traffic to my blog. Here they are:

  1. How I Quadrupled My Blog’s Traffic In 3 Months
  2. 4 Keys To Blogging Success
  3. 2007 Bloghology is launched
  4. 2007 Bloghology by Search For Blogging & Peopleized.com
  5. How to Stand Out from the crowd
  6. Tips for Improving your WordPress skills
  7. How To Track Your Keywords with HitTail
  8. Viral Marketing With an Ebook – Part5
  9. Aweber Review – Email Autoresponder – Part 1
  10. Bloghology Buttons Are Ready!

I will publish a more detailed traffic analysis by the end of February. I hope you like and learn something from above posts. Enjoy reading!

Editor

In this part let’s talk more about editing and presentation of your ebook. The quality of your book’s presentation makes a difference. If you present it well, it can encourage people to circulate it. The more people circulate it, the more traffic you will get in the end.

Edit, Edit, Edit…

Unlike your blog posts, you can not revise your ebook once people start to download it. Therefore you need to edit again and again until you are confident with it.

As you spend most of your time compiling your ebook for a few weeks period, you somehow become blind to your own writing. Do not fall into this trap. To be on the safe side give your document to family and friends to read through.

Probably they will notice some errors you missed. They can also honestly tell you which parts are unclear to them. If you target a specific reader segment, then you might share it with some trusted friends or readers who are within the target demographic for your ebook.

Don’t push yourself

Draft your ebook first, and then re-draft it. You should check grammar and spelling. Leave your ebook for a few days, and then come back to it with fresh eyes.

It is actually better to print it and go over the hard-copy for a few times

raft, re-draft, check spelling, check grammar. Let your eBook sit for a week and come back to it with fresh eyes. Print it out and carefully go over the paper copy.

From my own experiences i must tell you that sometimes things you missed on your PC screen will be obvious on printed paper.

In part 5 we will talk about how to promote your ebook effectively, which platforms to use for this purpose, how to ask help from the people. If you release your ebook and it goes no where, the possible reason is because there is no incentive to circulate it.

I believe Part 5 – promotion & marketing is the core of any ebook project. If you missed previous parts, please find them herebelow:
