Dramatic Changes in Alexa Rankings
This morning while I was checking my blog’s dashboard, I noticed that there was a drastic drop in my blog’s Alexa Ranking. Last midnight it was 80,000 something and after 8 hours I saw it as 121,233.
I was surprised, but I thought it was another wrong Alexa update. While I was looking forward a correction, I read this post on Problogger Alexa Announces ‘New’ Rankings
Sadly, I must accept that 121,233 is my new Alexa Ranking. You can read the official announcement from Alexa here The New Alexa Rankings
On the other hand, after having read the announcement now I think that this change was necessary for the sake of better rating. In the long run I can benefit from that too.
In the short term it may effect make money online blogs negatively, because most of the direct advertisers/sponsors are very serious about Alexa rankings.
