What Is The Google Sandbox Effect?

Most bloggers hate to talk about such a depressing topic, but the Google Sandbox is a real fact. In this post you will find the key facts about the Google Sandbox, and what to do in case you find your blog is in the Google Sandbox.
What is the Google Sandbox?
The Google Sandbox is a filter placed on new blogs or websites by Google. This filter prevents a new blog from rising very quickly in the search rankings, regardless the amount of the unique posts, and the number of inbound links.
The Google Sandbox idea is based on a simple yet reasonable idea: new sites shouldn’t have been able to get a large number of backlinks without paying for links. In reality, the sandbox is just a probationary period for your blog.
Is It Good or Bad?
Well, it is both good and bad. It ensures the quality of Google’s search results, helps prevent crab websites getting good rankings, and reduces spam. No new site can dominate the search rankings due to the Google Sandbox. It prevents creating multiple blogs on many different topics, and cashing in on the search engine traffic. That’s fair enough.
However, the sandbox temporarily lowers your traffic generation results. The worst part is the demoralization that can occur in such a case.
How Can You Understand Whether Your Blog Is In The Google Sandbox or Not?
Your search engine traffic will drop sharply in a few days, and your blog’s Google indexing rate will drop drastically. You can check your blog’s indexing rate by searching “site:www.yourblogsnamehere.com” in Google.
What To Do If Your Blog Is In The Google Sandbox?
You should never forget that your work will sooner or later payoff. Your blog will not stay in the Google Sandbox forever. Keep on writing good quality, and unique content. The good thing is the Google Sandbox is usually used for sites that target for competitive keywords such as “Make Money Online”. If there is no keyword competition in your blogging niche, there is no need for link building tactics, thus the sandbox is bypassed.
If your blog is in the Google Sandbox, it will probably stay there for anywhere from one to six months. Three months is the most common visitation time. If your site is targeting a popular keyword like “life insurance” or “health insurance”, your blog will probably stay in the sandbox for six months. As you can imagine less competitive keywords will remain in the sandbox for shorter periods of time.
Also apply these simple techniques:
- Make a link analysis; having so many inbound links from unrelated blogs or websites might be the main problem.
- Try to write one post per day: fresh, unique, and daily content will shorten the probationary period.
- Do not try spam techniques to drive traffic into your blog.
- Do not over use SEO techniques. Too much SEO = At least 3 months stay in Google Sandbox!
Conclusion:
The Google Sandbox Effect is a real fact. But don’t let it change your blog marketing plans at all. You should keep building links and adding unique content as normal, so when the probationary period is over, you can quickly climb to your position in the search rankings.

That’s one of the clearest explanations I’ve heard on the sandbox effect. Nice job.
I never knew about the Sandbox concept! Thanks to you! I have got a clear idea as to what it really is! Thanks a bunch for the share!
I think you have explained the concept of sandbox in an effective manner than any other blog. Please keep on posting about Google PR…

Thanks for making this Google sandbox so easy to understand. I had herd about it but was not sure what it was. Great stuff keep it coming
Sandbox is a myth
I don’t think the sandbox is a myth.
I recently started a new blog http://www.iambored.co.za
After about a month I had a good amount of traffic, and I was ranking number 3 for the search “I am bored” But since this weekend, I have had no Search engine traffic, and I don’t rank within the first 10 pages of a Google search.
If that’s not sand boxed, then I don’t know what is.
Great Information. I think people are experience sandbox effects of 1 to 3 months most common being 1 month.
I thank sandbox effect is the result of a minor penalty for new blogs and non-guidelines compliant websites.
For me, sandbox is similar to penalty.
You have done a terrific job of explaining this.
I am glad you liked it Clay…
"Try to write one post per day: fresh, unique, and daily content will shorten the probationary period." – How do you know about this? I don't think this is true at all.
