Use Blog Comments For Your Blog’s SEO

By Mert Erkal in Search Engine Optimization

Research the other blogs in your niche, and regularly leave comments with your search keywords. As you gain more links on your targeted search keywords, your blog’s search engine ranking with these keywords will increase. However, do not SPAM other bloggers just for the sake of getting backlinks.

  • Keep your comments on the topic.
  • Prove that you have read the post.
  • Ask the blogger a relevant question.
  • Add another point that you believe the blogger might have missed.
  • Use your search keyword as your name when linking to your blog.
  • Try to link to a similar post from your blog.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

I did a guest post on carl ocab's blog in 2008 where I discussed this in detail. blog comments really help in getting long-tail searchers to your blog, which represent more than 80% of the total searches. ;)

Hi Mert, it's been a while. Great advice. Another benefit to commenting on other blogs in your niche is many of them will end up becoming online friends. Some will also visit your blog and comment too.

I find leaving comments a very helpful and important part of seo. You are right though about the comments needing to be real. The writer of the post went to the effort of writing it, so at least read it when commenting on their blog. Thanks for the tips.

Somehow I don't feel comfortable at all to use a keyword to substitute my name although I know that is one very useful SEO tip.

Commenting on related dofollow blogs is actually great for SEO, but don't just post but contribute to the conversation wisely…

commenting on blogs is Impotant for backlings but the comment must mean something as you said use keywords but only if it's about the post topic.I see people commenting on blogs like they are on twitter or something putting in your blog in the comment box really looks like spam and it won't get you any traffic.

I was just thinking about Use Blog Comments For Your Blog’s SEO and you've really helped out. Thanks!

Although Google does not care much about links inside comments, Google cares about links INSIDE the posts. Get people to notice you, and they will eventually write about you and your site.
