Personal blogging used to be the only way to communicate with your friends on the Web. However, information overload forced bloggers to look for alternative ways of communication, and microblogging was born. Today increasing number of bloggers  use microblogging tools to socialize with each other. Via microblogging sites like Twitter, you can share every quick thought or link with your community of followers. You can also see their updates. It is a never-ending conversation with your community. Microblogging tools are not only useful for socializing, but also for promoting your blog and service.

I take you on a journey into the world of “microblogging”, and its latest form “lifestreaming” in Bloghology Blog World Expo special edition. Find the article “The Next Big: Lifestreaming with Microblogging” and read the entire story.

Today I would like to tell you about how to automate your Twitter to get more traffic.

TweetLater – Schedule Future Tweets For All Your Twitter Accounts

I use Twitter regularly. You may follow my Twitter updates. I try to use it for adding value to others, and promoting my blog posts and Bloghology. Recently I noticed that some Twitter users are sending automated thank you messages to new followers. I checked Google, and found TweetLater. It is a small yet brilliant online application where you can schedule future tweets for all your Twitter accounts, as well as customize your thank you message for them.

You can use this tool to welcome your followers by introducing yourself, your blog, or your latest offers. You should not forget that you are limited to 120 words only! So use a clear and understandable wording. You can use tinyurl.com to shorten your links.

You might increase your traffic immediately with TweetLater by following these 5 steps:

  • Check Twitter Search by entering some keywords related to your targeted niche.
  • Check ongoing discussions, select Twitter followers who are already discussing those keywords.
  • Follow as many of them as possible, but be selective. Follow the ones which may add value to you and your business.
  • Start communicating with them. Respond their Twitter updates by putting @ before their Twitter usernames.
  • Automate your thank you message at TweetLater by typing your thank you message including links to your blog, and wait for them to follow you!
