Today is just another milestone in my blogging history. I am glad to inform you that my fellow readers are now able to leave their voice message to me through a cool little audio recording widget called mychingo. You can find it down the right side of my blog, titled as “Have Your Say”.

If you are interested in leaving a recorded message all you have to do is to click the “Leave Message” button just on the bottom of the audio player. Please make sure you include your name, your blog or website URL so that I know who you are. I am looking forward to hear any comments.

Why Should You Also Use Audio Messages?

If you let your readers leave audio messages, you will not only give them a chance to communicate in another way, but at the same time you will increase your social proof. Social proof is the reason why we subscribe to Problogger.net after noticing that 45,000 bloggers already subscribed.

Audio messages can also play a big role in social proof. This is true if you have at least some fellow readers to leave audio comments to your blog. An empty audio player (like mine today, because it is the first day!) can easily mislead the first time visitors. They can easily think “If there is no comment left to this blog, why should I waste my time reading it??”. Therefore I do not recommend audio messages unless you have at least a dozen fellow readers to leave comments.

Imagine how happy you would be If you hear the voices of your day to day blogging friends. It sounds like an amazing experience for me.

On the other hand, you give your readers a chance to promote themselves by including their name and blog URL while recording the messages. This is a good way of introducing themselves to your community.

How To Setup Mychingo?

First of all, I am a bit unlucky that I missed free accounts. Free accounts are no longer available. However monthly subscription is only $3.95 and it is worth trying. You also have a chance to cancel it within 3 days. But I bet you won’t as long as you get audio messages from your fellow readers.

After signing up, you will get a password to start using this online application. It took my 10 minutes to set it up, and record my Welcome message. So it is not a rocket science to use this application. It is just another widget application.

Public players are are customizable, you may change the color, title etc. After you finish the setup process, you will get the widget code, and put it in your WordPress under Presentation>Widget.That’s all!

You will be noticed when someone leaves a recorded message to you. You will then be taken to your control panel. Through the control panel you can make a recorded message public, or delete it.
