Mother’s Day is fast approaching. As a problogger I am usually so busy that I add reminders so that I do not forget the mother’s day (thanks to commercials it is not so easy to forget though!). Here are a few simple tips for busy bloggers who want to make their mom proud this mother’s day.

Mother’s Day Ideas For Bloggers

  • Buy her a new smart phone and teach her how to use it. This seems not like a tip, but believe me the hardest thing on this earth for your mom is to learn how to use a smartphone.
  • Create a Facebook profile for her, and upload some old photos by scanning them. She will be amazed!
  • Make mom happy by sending her a business card. Business cards are getting very popular, and I am sure your mom will like it. You might choose online printing companies like Nextdayflyers.com offering same day printing service even if you think you are too late!
  • You can make her really happy with a personalized photo purses or a handbag.
  • This one is crazy: Unique Mother’s Day Gifts: Mom on Reuters Giant Screen

These are my ideas for mother’s day. What are yours? Is there any special thing you are planning to do this mother’s day? Looking forward to hear from you.

In October 2006 I first heard the word problogging when I was surfing the web during my leisure time in office. I was so bored with my daily job that I was looking for alternative ways to earn my living. I somehow came across Darren Rowse’s famous Problogger.net blog. At first I could not believe what is written over there. Even though I did not believe, it sounded perfect to me because reading and writing have always been my favorite hobbies. Within two or three weeks time, I’d created my first blogspot blog in order to try blogging. Since then I’ve run many blogs. I’ve transitioned from part time blogger to full time blogger through the time.

Along the way I face with many challenges. There have been good times and bad times. I thought I’d create a list of things I wish someone had told me in my early blogging days. Here’s my top 5 Lessons Learnt in my 4 years of blogging. I will appreciate if you write your own ‘lessons’ list and let me know about it in comments below.

Today I read a great blog post titled The Evolution of Blogging by Om Malik. According to Om, blogging needs to evolve because the nature of content sharing or publishing have changed drammatically. Services like Twitter and FriendFeed have made content sharing easier. But the blogging platforms like WordPress are still way behing this change. I certainly agree with Om Malik.

Om’s post remind me that since very long time I did not publish any post to my blog. I was on a holiday. Well, frankly speaking, for a problogger almost everyday is a holiday if you are well organized. I consciously stopped and thought about the evolution of Search For Blogging for a while. Finally I decided to focus more on blog monetization, problogging issues and SEO during the post-summer season.

There is a saying : ‘Think global, act local’. I did the same. 3 months ago I launched www.profesyonelblogcu.com (‘problogger’ in Turkish). It has become so popular in such a short period of time that  I will be launching Mert’s Blog Academy (‘Mert’in Blog Akademisi’ in Turkish) next week, a membership and blog coaching program for Turkish bloggers. Nowadays I am very busy with the preparation of the program, that is why I can not post so often.

Let’s turn the saying upside down: How about ‘Act local, think global’?

I got becomeaproblogger.com domain, and hopefully will be launching Become A Problogger coaching program within the next 3-4 months period. Will keep you updated about the progress of both programs…

It was an experimental case study. I made my decision, got the domain, selected a nice looking WordPress theme, and launched the blog last Saturday. The best of all, Google  indexed it on the first day. The blog provides information on mother’s day and gives you some clues about the best mother’s day gift. It has started receiving organic traffic from the major search engines as well.

I have applied for some affiliate programs related to the Mother’s Day through the Link Share, and already started making some affiliate sales. It is a seasonal asset that will bring me some money each year.

My fellow readers know that I always suggest them not to rely merely on their blog’s income. Always look for some profitable and seasonal opportunities, and don’t be afraid of experimenting.

Now logon to Mother’s Day Gift Guide, order a nice gift for your lovely mom, and enjoy the mother’s day!

I have read an interesting article at The Wall Street Journal’s website written by Mark Penn titled America’s Newest Profession: Bloggers for Hire. According to Mark, there are over 20 million bloggers in USA, with 1.7 million profiting from the work, and 452,000 of those using blogging as their primary source of income. In other words, almost 2 million Americans getting paid by the post, word, or the click.
