Your Blog Hosting Recommendations Wanted

By Mert Erkal in Blogging

I have received emails in the last few weeks asking for advice on blog hosts. There are four important things you should check before paying for a hosting service:

  • High uptime ratio (will your blog be up and running all the time?)
  • Availability for patches & updates
  • Cpanel (one click WordPress installation)
  • A server located in USA (because Google treat them special!)

Since very long time I am using Host Gator and I am very satisfied with their service. Their service met all above mentioned criteria. Apart from their monthly maintenance, my websites and blogs never went down. Their uptime ratio is quite high.

I preferred Host Gator‘s Baby Package with its $7.95 per month price. You get unlimited Disk Space/Bandwidth/Domains with that price. What else a problogger can need?

I still wonder your choice. Which hosting company do you prefer? What do you think about them? What suggestions would you give a new blogger shopping for a host for his new blog? What are your blog hosting recommendations?

Hi Mert,

You might want to check out JaguarPC http://bit.ly/1h3rZ in Atlanta. The price is a little bit higher if you want to pay month to month, but you can get good prices by paying for the year…
Also, my experience with Host Gator has been that they put too many sites on one server, slowing down your page load times.. JaguarPC hosting has the same control panel, cPanel, with the one click install for WordPress…
Host Gator servers are in Texas.. JaguarPC servers are in Atlanta.. If your audience is the US, then it doesn't matter, but if your targeting a Turkish audience, then Atlanta is one of the main lines into Turkey, so faster load times..

i really like Hostmonster. I have been using them for 2 years now and their service is very good. once every 3 months they seem to have maintenance which bring down the site for an hour like clockwork. other than that i haven't seen any problems whatsoever. Plus you have the benefit of unlimited everything and SimpleScripts. Here is my affiliate link: http://www.hostmonster.com/track/teqedgec

I really like reading you =) .. I’m a new blogger and I'm confused u_u, all webpages talk about making money for hosting videos, but not all of them are good and I have a lot of ideas. My cousin recommended me to visit (vismomedia.com) , he said I’ts a good webpage for bloggers. What’s your opinion ¿?

Hi Miguel, I have been told that Media Temple s performance is quite good also. Mert s Blog Academy is going well, we have so many members that I still can not believe how it happened in my country where problogging is fairly a new concept. Thanks for your usual support Miguel!

I use http://mediaserve.com for my blog at $8.95 a month and have never had a problem with them. In fact, my husband recommended them to me since he uses them to host our church site which he designed and maintains. Never have our two sites been down that we know of. Plus they are very quick to respond to any questions.
