My Best Is Yet To Come!

Mert Erkal

You probably read my story before. My aim is to quit my full time Marketing job (which I have been working for nearly 10 years!) and earn my living from blogging and internet projects. I was planning to leave by 2010, after creating a steady income online business.

You can try to plan your life, but something is out of your control. My aim was to make good money online and support my family. I have spent so much time and energy for this purpose. Guess what happened? I lost my father on the 13th of Jan, 2008.

It was a lesson to be learned I guess. I should have spent some more time with him. But you can not expect what will happen to you tomorrow. Anyway, I found enough motivation to continue after my dad’s loss.

The biggest lesson I learned from my dad’s loss was you should never ever postpone your dreams. Thus, I decided to quit my full time job earlier. I will be quitting my job by the end of 2008 August.

Born Is On the 1st of September

My blog does not produce enough money to cover my mortgage. So I decided to develop some Internet projects. I have been quite proactive last week. I have 90 days to break the prison (or vice-versa!) , so I should be proactive and seek opportunities this summer.

I am open to all kinds of cooperation and collaboration, joint ventures etc. I will still have some money in my pocket to invest in Internet projects. If I can not succeed in Internet projects, I will be looking for another full time or part time job.

Your usual support and cooperation will be appreciated during this period. I am looking forward to hear from you. What are your suggestions to me?

  1. You are getting about 10 to 20 times the traffic I get. If your conversion rate is about the same, you shouldn’t have much problems.

    Break a leg! ;)

Keep pushing! I think your blog and experience is more “real” than most as you are learning what to do as you go – in a secong language! Some of the “gurus” have talents like marketing or writing (like Yaro) that have made their progress so much smoother. Best wishes David

  3. Hello Mert! For your decision I wish you all the best!!

  5. Hi Mert, just keep doing what you’ve been doing with your blog because I think it’s great! I wish I could come up with some good Internet income ideas for both of us.

  6. You’ve got an AWESOME goal! I fully support you and I know you can do it.

Rosalind Gardner has some good words of advice at http://netprofitstoday.com/index.php and Yarok Starak at http://www.entrepreneurs-journey.com that you might helpful too.

It’s just a numbers game…keep gettng the traffic and other projects and you’ll have it made.

  7. Hi Mert, as long as you make your decision wisely and have Plan B for backup, I think you’ll be alright. You have the ability and the drive, I’m sure you can do it. Good luck to you.

I would like to thank everybody who has commented and supported me. It is good to see that I am surrounded by good people like you. I really appreciated your messages.

    Wish you all the best!

  9. Hey Mert!

What I see is that you are focussed, so have no fear; it will work.

I can’t resist offering this suggestion though; “you should zip over to Vic’s Blogger Unleashed site and ‘learn how to get 20,000 uniques a day’.”

Good luck with the new direction.

  10. ALL RIGHT! AWESOME STUFF MERT! I am looking forward to working with you.

  11. hello Mert — just wanted to wish you all the best! quitting your job earlier must have been quite a decision to make. however since i’ve been pursuing my dream of being a published novelist for a while now, i can understand the drive for success.

    i know i’m rambling a bit — i’ve started on book #2…so yeah a bit mentally warped =P

  12. You’re doing a great job so far!

You may want to use some services to sell some links on your blog for now. It’s much better than paid blogging, although ReviewMe is not frowned upon like the others. John chow makes a nice amount of money writing reviews for ReviewMe.

I’ve found a few more opportunities that I recently signed up with. I wrote about a few already. I’m waiting for replies from several other companies to write the tutorials. I’ll definitely keep you posted.

By the way, I tried to leave a voice message last week and it wasn’t working. :(

    Take care,

  13. Tomorrow at 8PM EST starts 30Day Challenge with Ed Dale and Dan Raine.

This 4th 30DC promise – everyone can make its first Dollar in 30Days.

It can be a good support to achieving your goal.

    Wanna try? http://snurl.com/33lc4
