Imagine Yourself Blogging While Cruising To Mars
Posted by Mert Erkal on May 25, 2008 in Blog, Relaxation | 2 commentsLaunched in August 2007, Phoenix is designed to study the history of water and habitability potential in Mars. Hopefully Phoenix is going to land on Mars safely today.
Turkish NTVMSNBC TV channel is going to broadcast these moments live from MARS with the video feeds provided by NASA. Even though it is going to land at 3 a.m local Turkish time, I will be watching. I feel really excited about that.
The first signal from Phoenix is expected at 7:53 p.m EDT (23:53 GMT) on Sunday. Because of the 275 million km between Earth and Mars during Phoenix’s Mars arrival, it will take signals about 15 to 20 minutes to reach NASA’s control center at JPL once they’re sent.

Imagine Yourself Blogging While Cruising to Mars
Since early childhood, I have great interest to space. I was lucky to meet Carl Sagan and his book Cosmos: A Personal Voyage when I was 14. It was an eye-opening experience for me. I read so many books about space and Cosmos since then. I regularly follow space issues, MARS missions etc.
According to NASA scientists, we will be capable of sending astronauts to MARS by 2015. Imagine how exiting would it be to update people on earth with your blog posts as an astronaut cruising to MARS.
When I heard about Phoenix project, I always dream about being a blogger astronaut inside it. I would capture videos, and send them to You-Tube for sharing with the people on earth. I would tell them how it feels like living in an non-gravity environment with my podcasts. If I am lucky, I would also introduce them some Aliens!
Can you imagine yourself blogging while cruising to Mars? What would you do? What would you say to the people on earth?

Of coure yes. Considering that I spend about 12 to 16 hours a da yin front of my monitor and that I don’t go out so much, I think I’d have less problems than most of the people…
